Whose turn is it to feed the dog?

By |May 17th, 2019|Categories: Creative, Karen’s Thoughts|Comments Off on Whose turn is it to feed the dog?

Can you relate? Does it always seem to be your responsibility? Is this annoying to you? Does it make you angry and resentful? To me, this is a situation that is best viewed through perspective. When we are involved in intimate relationships and living together, the sharing of responsibilities can often seem imbalanced. There are things I always do that my husband never does. Then, I have to remind myself - there are things he always does that I never do! (On a side note, we find using "always" or "never" in sentences with each other, only leads to bad [...]

The 5 C’s

By |May 7th, 2019|Categories: Karen’s Thoughts|Tags: , |Comments Off on The 5 C’s

I had the honor and pleasure to officiate a friends' wedding last weekend. We had been meeting for several months to put together a ceremony that was a perfect reflection of the bride and groom as individuals, and the couple they are becoming. As I contemplated the words I wished to impart, it occurred to me that planning a wedding is a microcosm of life...It has everything in it, from the joy and excitement, the dreams coming true, to the stress and pressures, choices, decisions...And as I considered how they worked together to create their ceremony, I realized if they [...]

Choice

By |August 7th, 2018|Categories: Karen’s Thoughts|Comments Off on Choice

Everything in life comes down to choice...How do I want to "see" this, or "hear" this?  How do I want to "interpret" this?  What "assumptions" do I want to make? The quality of your life depends upon the choices you make. Many of us are so busy doing the details of our lives, we don't take the time to notice the choices we are actually making. I challenge you to slow down and observe more about the stories you tell yourself about others...the stories you tell yourself about you...and the stories you tell yourself about life. The choice lies in [...]

Voices In My Head

By |May 21st, 2018|Categories: Karen’s Thoughts|Comments Off on Voices In My Head

We all are speaking all the time to ourselves. I received an awesome reflection of how I'm perpetuating old stories and certain kinds of connections with others through these conversations with myself. Whether it be from my childhood, or a decade ago, it is easy to inadvertently keep ourselves stuck from this habit. While I wasn't thinking I was speaking to other people, after all, I'm only talking in my head. However, everything I am telling myself is actually keeping those players alive and stuck in the places I am perpetuating by the particular thought I am continuing to speak, relive, [...]

Body Talk

By |May 10th, 2018|Categories: Karen’s Thoughts|Comments Off on Body Talk

Our body is always speaking to us. How do you listen to this part of yourself? When you have a headache, do you pop some pills, annoyed by the inconvenience and keep with your agenda at hand? When you are tired, do you drink more caffeine and push through? When you get sick, do you find yourself frustrated and angry, focused on all the things you have to do? If your body was your child, would you dismiss her/him in the manner you do your body?  Or would have be more loving and attentive and responsive to her/his needs? Have [...]

The Beauty in Bamboo

By |May 10th, 2018|Categories: Karen’s Thoughts|Comments Off on The Beauty in Bamboo

I continue to look to nature for reflections on how to maximize the human experience. I aspire to be like bamboo - deeply anchored in strength, while completely flexible to life's experiences as they unfold. Bamboo spends years growing its roots in preparation for when it shoots up with miraculous speedy growth, and demonstrates incredible agility to bend without breaking. Flowing with life makes things the easiest they can be. However, surrendering to this flow can be challenging, as human nature likes to control external things to fit what we think we want. I invite you to try to shift [...]

Inspired from coaching with a Tree... Rooted in profound and blissful source Love and light swirl through my trunk as force Shining out, a golden ring is exuding I Am Presence Branches fearlessly reaching Curious, courageous and seeking Filling new spaces, reaching up to the sky I AM Presence My leaves will caress lightly Offer shade and respite for you Whispering gentle wisdoms in the wind I AM Presence My flowers and fruits so precious abound, Ripe and juicy, gems to be found Showering these gifts abundantly on you I AM Presence I AM You

What I learned from coaching nature…

By |May 10th, 2018|Categories: Creative, Karen’s Thoughts|Comments Off on What I learned from coaching nature…

I coached a tree - we learned about the power of presence. I coached a bush - we learned about the gift of voice, and that it’s possible to speak in many ways beyond the voice of sound. I coached a creek - we learned about the limitless possibilities of expression, creation, and ways to be - all of which are perfect in their natural state. I found the experience to be enlightening and humbling. Everything is communicating around us all the time....How well are you listening?

How can I help you?
